Why Luxury Brands are Worth the Investment

Chanel, Christian Dior, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Burberry, Valentino, Gucci, Pucci, Armani, Versace, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Carolina Herrera, Diane Von Furstenberg…….

These are the world’s most famous luxury brands and they are within your reach! Do you know about the various consignment web sites where you can buy gently used luxury brand items like dresses, shoes and handbags? Vintage and present day pieces for a fraction of the cost that they were brand new. As a sexy spinster you have disposable income that you can invest on luxury items. There are certain brands that are smarter investments than others; they hold their value or have high resale value.

Fortune wrote an article about luxury brand consignment website The Real Real. The article went on to say which labels hold their value the best and the worst based on information provided by The Luxury Institute. According to the article these are the labels that hold their value best: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Christian Louboutin, Cartier, David Yurman, Alaïa, Van Cleef & Arpels, Goyard. Click through to read complete lists of brands that lose their value the fastest (including Versace), which has surprisingly high resale value (including Victoria Beckham) and brands with surprisingly low resale value (Marni).

One of the luxury brand items I decided to invest in was a Fendi Baguette. The Fendi Baguette is an iconic fashion accessory introduced to the world in 1997. If you really love purses there’s a coffee table size book “Fendi Baguette” written by Achille Bonito Oliva, Paola Antonelli, Sarah Jessica Parker (yes, Carrie Bradshaw), and Banana Yoshimoto. According to the book, there have been over 700 versions of the baguette. I chose a Fendi Baguette in a neutral color with a splash of color on the buckle, so it goes with everything in every season. My other significant investment is two Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses. Those wrap dresses flatter everybody’s figure!
